Privacy Policy
Completing Toronto home renovations to the highest standards of workmanship
is our business. During the course of our projects, we will necessarily acquire
some personal information from or concerning our customers, and we recognize the
importance of keeping this information private. This privacy policy underscores
the importance which Carick Home Improvements gives to protecting your privacy
and confidentiality
1. What personal information do we collect and retain?
The plans and specifications or your residence is identifiable to you and
therefore represents personal information. We may also obtain financial
information to ensure that we will be paid, or to process payments with cheques,
credit cards or mortgage advances. In helping you prepare plans and
specifications, or modify plans and specifications as work proceeds, we may also
learn information directly or indirectly about you and your intended use and
enjoyment of the renovation. In the course of our work, we may also learn
information concerning the condition and structure of your residence.
2. How do we collect personal information?
Any information which we collect concerning you is primarily obtained directly
from you in the course of preparing plans and specifications. Sometimes, it may
be acquired from architects, engineers, surveyors or other consultants whom you
have engaged in connection with your renovation. We may also acquire personal
information from public sources such as municipal office relating to your
property.
3. Consent
When you engage us to submit a quotation, or engage us to undertake your
renovation, you naturally infer consent to the collection, retention and use of
personal information, but only to the extent reasonably necessary to permit us
to perform the services which you have requested and to administer the project
properly and efficiently.
You also consent to the collection and use by us of financial information
concerning you, but only for the purpose of assessing your credit, and to
actually complete payment transactions, whether by cheque, credit cards,
mortgage advances or other means. We will not use any financial information
identifiable to you for other purposes without your written consent.
4. Use of Personal Information
We only use your personal information to carry out your renovation project,
which includes managing and administering the project.
We may also use your personal information to keep you informed of our services,
or the availability of new products which may be of interest to you, except that
we will not use your personal contact information for this purpose if you
instruct us that you do not wish to receive this information.
5. Disclosure of Personal Information
In the course of undertaking the renovation, we will deal with suppliers and
subcontractors for the purposes of getting quotations and obtaining their goods
and services for your project. To the extent necessary, we may provide personal
information in the form of plans and specifications, and other necessary
incidental information, to suppliers and subcontractors. We may also disclose
personal information in some other circumstances, which include:
(a) We are required by law to do so;
(b) The person to whom the information relates consents to the disclosure;
(c) Disclosure is necessary to establish our fees or to collect our fees;
(d) To engage subcontractors and suppliers;
(e) To engage consultants whose services are necessary to plan, undertake or
complete the renovation, such as architects, engineers, surveyors and other
professionals and trades;
(f) If the information is already publicly known.
6. Security
Carick Home Improvements takes reasonable precautions consistent with business
practices in the industry to ensure the personal information is kept safe from
loss, unauthorized access or disclosure. For example, we keep our premises
secure and use computer passwords and access to sensitive personal information
is restricted on a "need to know". The plans and specifications of the
renovation, including information and data relating to the renovation "as built"
will be securely kept on file by us in order that they are available in case of
any warranty or other claims relating to the renovation or to your property.
After the renovation is completed and we have been paid in full, we do not
retain any financial information about you.
7. Access
You may ask for access to personal information which Carick Home Improvements
holds about you, and we will do our best to provide it to you as soon as
possible, and any case within a reasonable time after request. If you can show
that it is not accurate, complete and up to date, we will take reasonable steps
to correct it.
(g) Changes to this Privacy Policy
Carick Home Improvements may review its policies and procedures from time to
time, and as a result, this Privacy Policy may be amended.
