Dear Joel and Geno
We wanted to thank you for the renovations just completed in our home. We're probably
the same as many people in that we shopped around for price quotes and met with several
contractors to discuss the enlargement and modernization of one bathroom and the
renovation of another bathroom.
What we found was a big difference in the attitude displayed by Carick compared with the other contractors. Joel was able to offer alternatives, suggestions or refinements to our adeas, and really added value to the whole project. Although the other contractors appeared to try to do the same thing, it was obvious that they were really trying to make the job easier (or cheaper) for themselves, rather than trying to deliver what we really had planned to be done. This is what sold us on Carick.
The next worry was - would Carick be able to deliver the quality that we were promised? We need not have been concerned; we are really pleased with the final product and, although there were a few gliotches along the way, they were effiently and amicably resolved. One final comment would be that Carick did not nickel and dime us to death with a few unforeseen items and we really appreciate this - it was a really pleasant change to see this happen.
Joel/Geno we would, and will, recommend Carick to our friends, neighbours and fellow workers. We will also not hesitate in using Carick again in the future.

We are thrilled with the bathroom renovation that you just completed for us, on time and on budget
This is the second job that you have done for us (basement renovation, 1998) and I feel compelled to tell you formally how impressed I am with the dedication of the craftspeople and contractors who worked on both these jobs, often staying late and working the occasional weekend, As well, your constant supervision (often visiting the site twice a day!) really helped move things along and prevent misunderstandings that can sometimes occur.
Having our only bathroom out of commission for two weeks was a bit tricky but your people always restored it to functionality each night and left it clean enough to use. We really appreciated that effort.
I really felt the two fellows who did the bathroom remodeling work took a great deal of pride in ensuring it was done well.
I also appreciated your flexibility in adding in those few extra jobs.

If you have ever had to negotiate with a contractor about incomplete, sub-standard or otherwise unsatisfactory workmanship, then you will appreciate what I am talking about. Usually the contractor will offer to "fix" the problem, but you must still face the dilemma of risking further complications when you already know that they were unable to get it right the first time.
After several such experiences over the years, I consider myself fortunate to have discovered Geno, owner of Carick Home Improvements. I was delighted with the work done by Geno Scopelleti and his company, Carick Home Improvements, on my basement renovation.
The crew worked carefully to implement my ideas precisely. Workers were neat, polite, fastidious and trustworthy. No design attentuon was too much trouble and any small concern was dealt with immediately. Through their efforts, previously underutilized space was transformed into a new complete bathroom with fixtures and ceramics and a family room boasting a fireplace, hardwood flooring, new lighting and french doors.
All tradespeople - plumbers, electricians, carpenters and drywallers - were efficient and worked within the proposed timeline. Best of all, all work was completed within budget.

I wanted to thank you and your team for the fantastic kitchen renovation.
Cooking and entertaining are a prominent part of our lives
so our kitchen renovation was very important to us. We had developed our
own personal design & wanted a contractor who could realize our vision,
the result had to be built-to-last, and we were prepared to pay a fair
price to make it happen. We put a lot of research into finding the right
company to undertake our kitchen remodeling and got quotes that were all
over the map. I ignored the low balled quotes, as my experience has
always been inflated later to get it back up to what they wanted it to
be in the first place.
Many things impressed me about Carick and convinced us they were the
right company to bring into our house: they were upfront & honest,
saying that their quote would not be the cheapest, nor the most
expensive, but that once accepted they would just get the job done; they
are one of the longest members of renomark, which to me said they had
been a reputable business for a long time; we would have our own
dedicated crew who would work steadily until the job was done; and Joel
met with us a number of times to carefully build the quote together with
us. We really felt good about the process and decided that working with
Carick was the way to go. The results that were achieved were far better
than anything we could have imagined.
Our lead trade Ed did excellent work, but he really demonstrated his
craft when it came to having to improvise. As the unexpected surprises
in our old house revealed them selves, Ed continually came up with
solutions that actually improved our overall kitchen design rather than
simply finding a to work-around it.
I could not recommend him highly enough. Living without a kitchen and
with the mess of a renovation are stressful enough and his team made
every effort to minimize the stress while getting the job done as
quickly and efficiently as possible.
When the job was complete we could not believe the dramatic change. It
is fair to say that our kitchen renovation has made a dramatic
improvement in the enjoyment of our house. For the first week we ate all
our meals sitting at the bar rail just looking at out kitchen and
marveling how good it looked. It has been many months now and our
enjoyment has not diminished. So thanks again and I would recommend
anyone to consider Carick Home Improvements for their renovation

Dear Joel,
Just a few words to say how thrilled we are with the renovations. As you
will remember, our ensuite bathroom of 25 years ago was what a young
couple would have loved in the 80's. As a matter of fact, it was quite
dramatic and spectacular. Mirrors on the ceiling, mirrors on all four
walls, a Jacuzzi bath for four or six people.
As a couple in our sixties, we wanted an ensuite to be adequate for our
needs now and in years to come.
So we asked you to remove everything form ceiling to floor. Since we had
no architects to plan any of this nothing could have been done without
your expert advice and that of Thomas who had the patience and the
diplomacy to tell us what would look right and what would not.
We must also add that everything in the contract was observed. Litter
was removed from the premises. This is especially important in a condo,
as the administration is not tolerant.
Other condo rules were observed: work to be done between 10 am & 5 pm.
Between those times, there were noisy moments (removing of the marble
floor etc) but no one complained as rules were strictly observed.
We are truly pleased with the results.
A word about the time this whole procedure took. If one is to have
everything custom made, it will be time consuming. Materials come from
Europe, the USA etc. In our case patience paid off. We feel it was well
worth it. Thanks for everything.

To whom it may concern:
2008 was the year we bought our dream home in west end Toronto and were faced with
what we thought would be a massive renovation to turn it into our dream live/work space.
In error we began the project with architects and laboured through endless conceptual
meetings to arrive at little progress and money spent with a specific timeline and
budget wearing down. Once it was clear that this was a prohibitively expensive method
to our urgent goal, we were faced with having to realise the project a discipline at a time.
I discovered Carick Home Improvements online and from the first meeting I could see Geno
knew his stuff and understood our dilemma; his quote was the first piece of good news
we'd gotten in months. Many of our requirements were highly unusual for a neighbourhood
home, but Geno set to it and lead us through each stage informatively on time.
We opted to let Geno arrange permits and drawings and they were prepared and ready
exactly on time for exactly the price quoted.
When it came to the work, Geno's crew were on time and ready to work and work they
did, taking few breaks and cleaning up at the end of every day. They were always
willing to explain each stage of the work and made clear why each part was required.
The work was completed ahead of schedule and when the bill arrived, it was exactly
the amount quoted; even considering the boys remained onsite two days after the work
was done to contract to do some very important work in a new kitchen-entirely thrown in as a favor.
After a trying year with our ideal home finally coming together it is my very great pleasure
to recommend Carick Home Improvements for any project under both tight time frames and
budgets where one cannot afford a do-over.

I wanted to write this letter so that you may share it with prospective clients.
After completion of our work (major renovation of our master bathroom, the basement,
2 powder rooms and the complete build of a new mudroom), we were very happy with the work.
We were within weeks of expected completion and very close to expected budgets. The
difference in budget was due entirely due to the "unknowables" (e.g., poorly build
roof support by a previous contractor).
I could have written earlier to thank you for all this, but your help in the last
couple of weeks has given me all the more reason to do so. Specifically, your help
with the loose-ends and warranty work after the project was completed --- that is,
after I no longer owed you any money --- has been great. Other contractors may have
simply neglected their "promises" to follow up in the 2 year warranty period, but
you've gone beyond expectations. As an example, this week you had a plumber come
out twice --- within 24 hrs --- to replace a faulty shower part that really should
have been covered by the shower manufacturer or the plumbing distributor. Yet, you
knew we need the repair quickly in order to leave for vacation with peace of mind, and you provided it.
It has been a pleasure having your as our contractor and we are happy to provide references in the future.

How do we begin to thank you for the absolutely incredible job you did on our complete home renovation.
It's the finest workmanship we could have ever have imagined. I can't believe how our lives
have changed since you turned our old fashioned 1950's house into a beautiful new French Style Chateau.
Without exception, every one of your workers, Thomas the foreman and all his crew, Mike,
the electrician and his guys, Andrew & John the stucco experts, Steve and his painters,
Mario who built our fabulous French Country Kitchen, Benny who did the carpets, Cameron
and his plumbers, the young men who installed our hardwood floors, and especially Andrew
the Architect who did all the plans, were of the very highest caliber in workmanship and
professionalism. They all went above and beyond; to make sure Dennis & I remained
comfortable while continuing to live in the house.... even when the roof was off!
Not once did any of them let us down and they were here working every single day for months.
This was a huge job, and after all the horror stories we'd heard about home Renos, we were
very careful to interview several companies before starting.
We selected you, not just because you're a genuinely nice man, but because you just made
everything so easy for us. Your attention to detail and constant presence on the job,
gave us a complete feeling of confidence.
Your price was not the lowest, but it wasn't the highest either and even with the couple
of unforeseen problems we discovered after the inside of the house was ripped out, like
the floor joists and the original ceiling beam problem, along with the few extra items
we added along the way, you came in right on time and especially right on budget.
All we can do now is to highly recommend you to anyone who needs any type of home building
or renovation, from the smallest job to a complete home renovation like ours.
Here's hoping you win the Home Builder's Association contest with our renovation, you
really deserve it, because it truly is a miracle house transformation.
